ABOUT KARLSRUHER OSTSTADT
Oststadt is, as the name suggests, an eastern district of Karlsruhe. It borders the city center to the west at Durlacher Tor and the Durlach district to the east. Oststadt stretches far to the north as far as Waldstadt. Over 20,000 inhabitants have lived here for a long time and maintain a good relationship with their surroundings. Probably the most important sights are Gottesau Castle, the main cemetery and the entire slaughterhouse area, which offers plenty of space for creativity.
You can't expect a high density of eateries here, as you might be used to in the city center, but this tends to lead to space problems in the evenings. There are few problems with breakfast. Only in restaurants that serve brunch should and must be booked in advance to guarantee that you can still be accommodated.
Oststadt is very well connected by public transport. This means you can easily and comfortably travel to the Oststadt for breakfast and then be close to other options. But of course you can also get to the other parts of the city very easily. One route goes via the main cemetery and the other via Durlacher Allee. The frequency is high enough to set off spontaneously.
Some of the cafés in Oststadt are well integrated into the district. So you have to know where they are. If you don't live in Oststadt, you can't just drop by. But these corner cafés are also part of the charm of a beautiful district.
