Café Rih is perhaps not one of these typical breakfast cafés and its location is not an immediate eye-catcher. It is located at the end of Waldstraße before it turns into the castle district. This actually makes it a good starting point for discovering the culture and origins of Karlsruhe. It is actually in the middle of the city center, but in a side street.
From the outside, the café is really interesting and inconspicuous at the same time. Especially when it comes to the café's suitability for breakfast, because you would think you have discovered a café for an after-work event. It is indeed suitable for this, as you will also find wines on the menu. If there is no event, you have time to enjoy your evening here until around 8 pm.
The opening hours are certainly not for early risers. During the week, you shouldn't show up before 9:00 a.m., on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and on Sunday it doesn't open until 11:00 a.m. It is certainly worth a recommendation for a late riser's breakfast.
You should always be able to find space, as the rooms are surprisingly large. It does go a long way to the back. In summer there is also some outdoor seating - but not very much. The décor is interesting and very much influenced by art.
In addition to the morning standards such as coffee, tea and some breakfast variations, there are also cakes and muesli. So there should certainly be something for everyone.
Waldstraße is one of those streets in Karlsruhe where you don't really need to explain how to get there. Café Rih is located at the end of Waldstraße just before Zirkel. The nearest streetcar stop is either Herrenstraße or even Europaplatz. If you want to drive, you can choose from a list of half a dozen parking garages. And if you're out for a walk in the city, it's just a stone's throw away.
