Q Coffee - café, roastery, store

From the outside, the building is quite staid and hardly inviting. But once inside, you notice the creativity and attention to detail in the interior design. You feel at ease and prepare yourself to discover the many small details. You should let your eyes wander everywhere, the shelves, the chairs, the tables, and so on.
It is a roastery, a café and a store in equal measure. The family business attaches great importance to its philosophy and the passion based on it. So why the "Q" now? It is the quattuor GmbH & Co KG. If I've been paying attention in Latin correctly, that should mean "four".
In the store (both in the store and online) you can also take various things home with you and you will be surprised again with how much creativity you can use when making and packaging coffee.
At this point, it is perhaps worth mentioning that coffee seminars are also offered here. This could be "Latte Art", for example, where you learn how to draw with milk foam.
Breakfast at Q Kaffee
The café is open from 10:00, on Saturday already from 09:00, on Sunday it is even closed. This means that it is only open for breakfast on Saturdays for working people. But this is not unusual.
Of course, the first thing to mention is the coffee and espresso, which are available in several varieties and all taste great. You can taste the attention to detail and the passion. For people who cannot / do not want to or are not allowed to drink coffee, there is tea and hot chocolate.
There are various alternating variations of food, both hot and cold. These can be sandwiches, panini in different variations, salads, eggs or dumplings. The whole thing is rounded off with muffins and great cakes.
Not everything is available all day; items on the lunch menu are only prepared from 11:30.
How to get to Q Kaffee
Q Kaffee is located in Ottostraße in Durlach and is therefore far away from the normal restaurants and cafés and can only be reached by car, although there is a bus nearby. There are plenty of parking spaces, but they are also very busy due to the industry located here.

"What a lovely place!! We found it by pure luck, but we left so satisfied! The coffee was incredibly good, and learning that they roast it themselves, contributed to an even higher evaluation. Bonus points that they made my latte with oat milk (upon request, of course)! The food was also not far from great quality; the scrambled eggs with salmon and the chicken with rice, for instance, were flavoursome and delicious. Their hospitality, I must say, was excellent; the young lady that served us was super kind and helpful, especially because we asked many questions, as we are no German speakers. Lastly, their interior design is stunning; very modern yet mixed with old machines and coffee sacks. It creates an attractive and cosy atmosphere. All in all, this café is a must visit; their concept is inspiring and I highly recommend this beautiful place for breakfast, brunch or lunch!"

"Best coffee ever tried in Germany. The owner is super friendly, attentive and welcoming. A very cozy place. All the products are of excellent quality like coffee, cappuccino or hot chocolate. They also make some very fresh and tasty salads and snacks in lunchtime and super delicious desserts like different pies, brownies or portugese pastel de nata. Sometimes new desserts are offered to try out to customers before put on the menu. Highly reccomended."

"One of the two places in Karlsruhe among the ones I explored in the last 15 months where coffee is truly outstanding. And the people running this cafe are very friendly. Somewhat eclectic look and feel plus interesting and sometimes unusual lunch menus add to the overall experience. The location is not very picturesque, but once inside you're in a different world. I recommend this place very highly!"

"Nice place. Pleasant owners. Coffee is good but it is better to have your own cups because the ones they have (paper) bring strong additional taste to coffee. Scones are really good with low sugar."
