Mary Poppins - the little gem among the cafés

The small café at the end of Kaiserstraße looks very traditional from the outside and every guest who actually enters the café and walks past the large cake counter to find their seat will feel that their first impression has been confirmed. He or she will want to stop here for breakfast.

If this guest comes back when the temperatures are warm and goes directly into the backyard of the old building, he or she will change his or her assessment. A small, green oasis radiates a wonderful Mediterranean atmosphere and suddenly you are no longer in the western part of Karlsruhe, but in the south of Europe.

Inspired by this atmosphere, your gaze immediately falls on the seafood platter with various fish and seafood and the French cheese selection with fruit (both with bread rolls and butter).

You feel like you're on vacation :), and since Mary knows that some of her contemporaries like to keep their German habits even on vacation, there is of course Mary's breakfast platter, consisting of sausage, cheese, butter, jam and egg.

The breakfast menu is small but delicious. In addition to the breakfast combinations, there are also a few additions, such as muesli, fruit salad, scrambled eggs with crab or chanterelles.

For dessert, we recommend a piece of cake from the patisserie - the selection is very good and extensive. You are also welcome to take the cake with you so that you can still have a good breakfast the next day.

Mary Poppins is therefore the little gem among the Karlruhe cafés and has nothing to hide.

In addition to the café and the service around it, Mary Poppins also offers cakes and gateaux for various occasions. Cakes for children's birthdays, weddings or Easter are just a few examples.

HOW TO GET TO MARY POPPINS

In my opinion, the café is somewhat hidden and you have to enter it to get a sense of its entirety. At this point, Kaiserstraße has another small street to the right and left of the main street - same name. This makes it easier to reach, but also harder to recognize. Parking spaces directly in front of the door are rare, but a supermarket and a school are not far away, so you can park your car there for a short time. The nearest streetcar stop is also within easy walking distance, almost on the doorstep.
